eggs for decorating

From these photos, it might not be clear that Tim actually took quite an active part in decorating these eggs.  But the parts where he was involved were NOT the parts when I took out my camera - my hands were already full!  Tim was actually pretty good at handling the boiled eggs and dropping them carefully into the dye.  He was also in charge of deciding how much dye went in for each colour. I think he did well!

a hobby

Nowadays, Tim has a hobby.  He really enjoys putting together these balsa wood models that come in kits (so far he has a pirate shipwreck and a jungle treehouse).  His favourite part by far is holding the instructions and telling Hayden and me what part to put on next.  We're pretty happy to take his direction.

turning three

For his third birthday, Tim requested the same cake as he had for his first.  And because Tim always gets what he wants ...

Gently warmed by the afternoon sun, these New Zealand strawberries were perfectly ripe and delicious, straight from the field.

naked time

I've included this (naked) photo just as a bit of a marker of a big milestone of Tim's: toilet training.  It was Tim's sudden penchant for being naked whenever possible that lead him naturally and easily into using the potty.  I was (of course) very glad that we got through this process relatively painlessly.  But there it is - the real and final final end of his babyhood.  He's definitely a big little boy now.

New Red Bike

I know it's bad form for a parent to boast. But he really got the gist of his bike straight off, and needed very little encouragement.  Not everything has come this easily and naturally to him, but the instant success of the balance bike was a pleasure to see.
